Fingal Counselling Service – COVID 19

In light of the evolving situation with COVID 19 Fingal Counselling Service will be closing until further notice. This decision has been taken in the interest of our clients, staff and our community . We will continue to follow government guidelines and will be open as soon as possible.

If you are a current client and need to talk to a counsellor urgently, you can call the service at 01 8902596 and leave a message with your name and telephone number. A counsellor will return your call as soon as possible.

Living with Grief

The Dublin Northside Bereavement Network are hosting an information evening for the public about bereavement with guest speaker Niamh Fitzpatrick (Psychologist and sister of Capt. Dara Fitzpatrick)

The event takes place on Thursday 6th Feb @ 7.30 

The Clasac,

 Alfie Byrne Road,

Clontarf.

The event will provide information about grief and the range of bereavement supports available in the local area. It is a free event, booking is not required. Refreshments will be available.

Volunteer Counsellor Positions

Fingal Counselling Service  are now offering volunteering opportunities to counsellors who have already completed their 100 training hours and are working towards accreditation. We invite applications from pre accredited IACP members to join our centre in Swords

Working towards accreditation?

We offer day, evening and Saturday appointments to our clients and 3-4 hour slots will be allocated to successful candidates.  There will be a 6 month probationary period and successful candidates will be offered a further 12 months counselling work.

  Fingal Counselling Service will be offering the following benefits; 

  • Supervision for Fingal Counselling Service client work
  • CPD training, induction and peer support
  • Professional insurance
  • Clients will be allocated from our managed waiting list.
  • Counselling rooms and administration support

If you are interested in applying please send;

  • A cover letter outlining your qualifications
  • A current CV
  • The contact details of a referee who can vouch for your work to date

Fundraising Event

We had a fund raising event on Saturday 21st April to raise much needed funds. A pop up shop full of pre loved occasion wear. The event was a great success, supported by the generous and very stylish ladies of Fingal.

Brackenstown Adult Scene of Education (BASE) celebrate 30 years

BASE celebrated their 30th anniversary on Friday 19th May with a party in BASE resource centre, Swords. A wonderful night was had by all. Congratulations to all those involved in the celebrations. Local funding support for Fingal Counselling Service

Swords and District Lions Club presented Fingal Counselling Service  with a cheque for €1500 towards the running costs of this invaluable service. The Lions Club has been a long-time supporter of Fingal Counselling Service providing us with funding towards training and other projects. Lion President Sean Quigley congratulated the service for their commitment, explaining that suicide prevention programmes, which are part of Fingal Counselling Service’s skill set, are a major service project for Lions Clubs all over Ireland.

Mary Forde, on behalf of the service, thanked the Lions Club for their generous donation and expressed her gratitude for its support over many years.
